My Summer Makeup Bag

This is actually the very first “beauty” post I’ve done on my blog (bear with me!).

With summer in full swing, I wanted to go through my summer makeup bag and share with you some of my favorite products that I’m wearing; I even wear some of these products year round. For those of you in law enforcement or in the military, you’ll see that all of these products can be used daily.

  1. L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Powder in Neutral // I’m wearing N4 buff beige. Honestly, this is my favorite powder that I’ve ever used; it is non-cakey and feels as though nothing is on your skin. It was actually given to me by a friend a few years ago. It matches skin tone and comes in a variety of shades.
  2. Sally Hansen Skin Firming Line Minimizing Pressed Powder in Nude // This is a little difficult to find in stores, so I linked back to Amazon; it’s $19.95. This powder does firm up the face (or at least it feels like it!) and also is non-cakey. I normally put it under/around my eyes because it does a good job of hiding those dark circles.
  3. e.l.f. Illuminating Palette // This palette has four shades. I haven’t tried it out yet, however I’m excited to see what it looks like.
  4. Merle Norman Cosmetics Dual Performing Eyeshadow in Cashmere // For the life of me, I can’t find the exact eyeshadow online. This is similar in Almond. What’s funny is I don’t use this as eyeshadow; I blend it with the Sally Hansen powder and I put it under my eyes.
  5. Clinique Sheer Powder Blusher in 19 Sugar Plum // This actually came in a set; unfortunately, I can’t find the exact blush but this is similar in Plum Gorgeous. This is a perfect shade for any season; it’s subtle yet provides a pretty pop of color to your skin.
  6. Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette // These are beautiful shades that range from a pale pink (Strange) or rose (Limit) to shimmery shades (Trick or Buzz) meant for a summer night out on the town. What I love about this palette is that it can be used for fall as well.
  7. Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black // I’ve been wearing this mascara for years now (who hasn’t?!) and it’s in my summer bag, however I’m looking to find another mascara this summer because I want to try something new. My favorite mascara I’ve ever used is Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara; I need a tube of this again!
  8. I’m using a few off brand eyeliners; one in black and one in brown — I’ve worn these so much the labeling is completely faded. I’m looking to purchase new eyeliner for summer.
  9. e.l.f. Highlighting Brush // I’ve yet to use this, however I like the feel of it; It feels durable and the bristles is taklon.
  10. bareMinerals Maximum Coverage Concealor Brush // Hands down this is the best brush.

If you haven’t noticed I have no products listed for the lips and that’s because I’ve yet to find a shade that’s right for summer — Do I want nude lips? A perfect shade of red? Rose? I’m still on the hunt!

What’s in your summer makeup bag?

On This Month’s Radar: Home Edition

I can’t believe we’re already in June! It feels as though the year has yet to begin, if I’m being completely honest. Isn’t it a little uncanny how that happens? Anyway, with summer just around the corner (for those of us not on summer vacation/break; summer starts on the 21st!), I’ve been looking at some of the newest items on Anthropologie, Macy’s, Magnolia, and Target. Hey, a girl can never have too many decor options!

Ariel Dinner Plate

Ariel Dinner Plate /// These glazed stoneware dinner plates are beautiful! Delicate looking yet sturdy AND unique. If a dinner plate could take form of a quaint seaside town, these plates would accomplish that.

La Spezia Tablecloth /// I’ve never been to Greece (yet), however this tablecloth makes me think of Europe. It’s truly pretty.                                                         La Spezia Tablecloth

Beatrice Towel Collection

Beatrice Towel Collection /// The collection has both a bath towel and hand towel. The pattern is so sweet looking!

Hotel Collection Sheets

Hotel Collection Embroidered Sheet Sets /// My favorite color in this collection is navy. The other colors in the collection are charcoal and silver. I’m actually really into the entire Macy’s Hotel Collection.

Hotel Collection Embroidered Frame Bedding Collection /// Again, my favorite color in the collection is, of course, navy. The colors you can choose from include charcoal, navy, aqua, and champagne.  Hotel Collection in Navy

Jute Tassel Basket

Jute Tassel Basket /// It’s funny because I was just thinking about how I’m not too big of a fan of items with tassels and then I see Magnolia has this basket, and well, heart eyes.

Small Wooden Spoon /// Wooden spoons are my absolute favorite. Small Wooden Spoon

Tulip StemTulip Stem /// I know these are more spring inspired, however I’d also love to have this in my office or bedroom for the summer.

Blue Sailboat Throw Pillow /// Who doesn’t love sailboats? Blue Sailboat

Old Navy Flannel Blanket Scarf | Style

OK, you guys, this post is so overdue!!! I completely meant to post this during winter, however life happens…you know how it is. Anyway, I wanted to share with you an item that I purchased last year as soon as it was in stock: Old Navy’s flannel blanket scarf. This scarf is one of the best purchases I’ve made! I wore it all throughout winter. In Hawaii. Even when it was sunny out. That’s how much I love it.

Blanket scarves are amazing; it can be worn in a number of ways. And it’s warm. As Paul says: It can even be used as a blanket. Yes, he really did use my scarf as a blanket in the car one evening when it was raining & cold.

Unfortunately, the scarf  is out of stock at the moment. However, later in the year around winter, I’ll link back to the scarf on Old Navy; it’s $17.97.

November Post | Style Picks

 Polyvore Set
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9
I‘m really loving these casual yet chic pieces, so much that I wish I could just zap it into my closet right now! One of the great things about November or even all of the months towards the end of the year is the great color combinations; blush tones, blues, greens, and even yellow. The colors I’m loving right now, or maybe I should say clothing/accessories with these colors that I gravitate towards, is dark teal, moss green, mustard yellow, pale pink or peach, and even white; November fashion is versatile at best. Unfortunately, the striped cashmere sweater is out of stock, as is the Picon flats and Burberry lipstick; I’m hoping that eventually each of these items will be back in stock or that I’ll be able to find similar items. These prices are actually (in my opinion) affordable, however a tad bit pricey for the sweater and romper, but you know if it’s good quality (it is) and if you can afford it then there’s nothing wrong with splurging a little bit! Hawaii has such a laid back style (a little too laid back for me at times) that I wanted to put together my style picks that would work with our weather (hello North Pacific!) and yet work with the fact that it is Autumn.
